What’s a Thanksgiving table without some kind of décor to really bring up what this holiday’s about? Centerpieces, as the name suggests, should be the highlight of any holiday table.

Unfortunately, stylish decorations can be pretty expensive. However, there’s an alternative, one that will also unleash your creativity - DIY-ing, so let's get started!

1

Pumpkin-Filled Planter

Why should you buy fake pumpkins to set on the table, when you can have an entire garden? A pumpkin-filled planter is an excellent centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table, one that also really manages to bring a rustic feel to any table. Still, be ready to arm yourself with plenty of patience and supplies, because this project’s going to take a while.
Difficulty: Hard
Location: Living and dining room
Time Estimate: 3 to 4 hours
List of Materials: 1x4 wooden boards; Sandpaper; Wood finish; Wood conditioner; Nail gun; Wood glue; Floral foam; Candles; Spanish moss; Mini pumpkins; Gourds; Wildflowers; Pinecones; Brushes

How to Make a Pumpkin Planter?

Put the wooden boards together to create a box.
Apply wood glue to the sides to hold them together.
Use a nail gun to secure the sides for a more secure fit.
Use sandpaper to flatten any rough edges.
Apply wood conditioner and finish using the brushes, and then let the box dry completely.
Cut the floral foam in half and place it inside the box.
Cover the foam with Spanish moss.
Decorate with mini-pumpkins and gourds.
Place candles in the box.
Decorate with wildflowers and pine cones, and you've finished making a pumpkin planter.

Floral Terrarium

Terrariums are great additions to your home, although they might not be the most festive decor. But that’s about to change because we’re going to teach you how to make one for your Thanksgiving table using seasonal flowers, a little bit of this, and a little bit of that.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Location: Living room
Time Estimate: 1 to 2 hours
List of Materials: Terrarium (preferably one that has a small door); Fresh Moss; Water source; Glass bowl; Assorted flowers: snakeroot, celosia, helenium, heliopsis, iberis, and sedum, for example

How to Make a Floral Terrarium?

Pour water in the glass bowl until it’s half full.
Take a handful of moss and place it inside of the bowl.
Take a stem or two from each flower and plant them in the moss. Be careful not to overcrowd the terrarium!
Close the door and place the floral terrarium on the table.
To give it a festive feel, add little pumpkins or fall leaves and give your terrarium a Thanksgiving feel.

Open the chalk paint container and give it a good stir using the wooden stick.
Dip the brush in paint and then use it on each pumpkin.
Let the pumpkins dry for a couple of minutes.

Remove the stem of the second pumpkin.
Place the second pumpkin on top of the first one and push until the stakes are all the way in.
